The General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over Nigeria’s worsening security challenges and economic difficulties.
Speaking during a church service, Oyedepo expressed concern over the continued attacks and killings reported across the country, condemning those responsible and warning that consequences would follow. The cleric alleged that the insecurity was being driven by influential individuals and declared that “the bubble is about to burst”, suggesting that those behind the violence would eventually face justice.
Oyedepo also offered prayers against what he described as “destructive agents” in Nigeria, regardless of whether they are currently in positions of power or outside government.
“The president needs to act now and stop pretending. You can’t slaughter members of my family and expect me to pray for you. I will pray against you and your household,” he said.
Expressing frustration over the response to the killings, Oyedepo questioned whether human lives were still being valued and criticised what he described as a lack of strong action from government authorities.
“Gunmen kill people every day, and government is pretending not to know what to do. I have kept quiet. When you see God keep quiet at wickedness, it is because the bubble is about to burst,” he said.
The bishop further questioned why, in his view, there had been no strong public condemnation from government officials over the attacks, adding that Nigerians were waiting for decisive action.
His comments come amid ongoing public concerns over insecurity and economic pressures affecting many Nigerians, with calls from various groups for stronger measures to address the challenges.
