Oyo Promotes 1,535 Local Government Workers.

The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission has promoted 1,535 workers across the 33 local government areas of the state following the completion of the 2025 promotion exercise.

The commission presented promotion letters to the beneficiaries, covering advancements from Grade Level 06 to Grade Level 17 among staff working in different departments of the local government system.

The development was announced in a statement issued by the Director of Education and Social Services, Lala Foluso, on Tuesday.

According to the commission, the promoted workers were selected from seven departments, including Administration and General Services with 288 beneficiaries, Agriculture and Natural Resources with 57, Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics with 40, Education and Social Services with 431, Environmental Health Services with 44, Finance and Supplies with 315, and Works, Housing, Lands and Survey with 360.

Chairman of the commission, Bashorun Akinwole, who presented the letters on behalf of the body, said the exercise was part of efforts by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to improve workers’ welfare and encourage career growth.

He said the promotion was aimed at creating a skilled and motivated local government workforce that would provide better services to residents at the grassroots level.

Akinwole added that the state government believes a committed workforce plays a major role in effective governance, noting that the timely release of promotion letters would help prevent career stagnation among civil servants.

He congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to see their new positions as an opportunity to take on greater responsibilities and contribute more to public service.

The commission also restated its commitment to regular promotion exercises, staff training and improved welfare packages for workers under the Omituntun 2.0 agenda of the Makinde administration.
