Nigerian dancer and hypeman, Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has received support from friends and colleagues following reports that he is being held in the United Kingdom over an alleged assault offence.
Several people close to the entertainer have spoken in his defence on social media, asking the public to avoid making conclusions about the case before the legal process is completed.
Filmmaker TG Omori, who has known Poco Lee for several years, expressed sadness over the situation and described the dancer as someone he considers close to him.
He later clarified that his reaction was not intended to excuse sexual offences or interfere with the justice process.
Omori explained that his long relationship with Poco Lee informed his reaction to the reports.
He said expressing disappointment over the situation should not be taken as opposition to justice or support for anyone accused of a sexual offence.
Socialite Rahman Jago also reacted to the development, saying it was difficult for him to see Poco Lee facing such a serious legal situation.
Jago said he believed there were details surrounding the matter that the public might not yet know.
He called on people to avoid using the case to attract attention on social media and said Poco Lee needed the support of his friends during the difficult period.
Instagram influencer Sulaaaaaaa also appealed to social media users to stop circulating claims about the dancer without proper information.
He described Poco Lee as a good-hearted person and urged people to be careful about spreading allegations that had not been established in court.
The reactions followed reports that Poco Lee is currently on remand in the UK and is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026.
Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of a Nigerian community in the UK, confirmed that Poco Lee was in custody and said the dancer was expected to attend a plea hearing at the court.
According to Kuti, the court appearance is scheduled for 10am on September 15.
A plea hearing allows an accused person to indicate whether they admit or deny the allegations against them.
Kuti also said he intended to attend the proceedings as part of his effort to support members of the Nigerian community in the UK.
He called for patience while the case goes through the court process and noted that Poco Lee remains legally innocent unless proven guilty.
Reports concerning the dancer’s alleged detention first surfaced online on August 19.
At the time, details about the person who allegedly made the complaint, the circumstances surrounding the reported incident and the exact nature of any charges were not made public.
There was also no immediate independent confirmation from UK police or the court when the initial reports began circulating.
An inquiry sent by PUNCH Online to the court seeking confirmation of the case had not received a response as of the time the report was filed.
The development has since generated reactions among Poco Lee’s friends, colleagues and followers, with those close to him calling for restraint as he awaits his next court appearance.
