Sanwo-Olu Seeks Assembly Approval To Reorder N2026 Lagos Budget.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has written a letter to the state’s House of Assembly, seeking the reordering of the 2026 budget christened “Budget of Shared Prosperity”.The letter, which was read, yesterday, by the Clerk of the Assembly, Adenike Oshinowo, outlined the priorities and rationale behind the proposed budget reordering.

The Chairman of House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Olumoh Sa’ad, noted that the 2026 budget had recorded about 69 per cent performance, stressing that the proposed reordering had become necessary to ensure that available resources were channelled to priority areas.

He suggested that the development could provide an opportunity for the governor to reconsider the proposed N200 billion bond recently presented to the House.

Aro Moshood, in his contribution, described the reordering as part of the dividends of democracy, expressing the hope that it would further address the needs of residents across the nooks and crannies of the state.

Gbolahan Yishawu, while commending the budget performance so far, advocated the reallocation of funds to projects that were performing and nearing completion.

He, however, stressed the need for projects to be funded adequately based on their scope and level of execution.

Yishawu noted that some capital projects had made significant progress, while others were still ongoing and required sustained funding to complete.

Kehinde Joseph, who called for greater attention to environmental challenges, especially drainage and flood-control projects, stressed that adequate funding should be provided for interventions to address flooding and improve residents’ quality of life.

The Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, thereafter committed the proposed reordering to the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget and urged it to report its findings in two weeks.
