Tears As 27 Victims Of Kaduna Attack Buried In Mass Funeral.

An atmosphere of deep sorrow engulfed Naridon village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State as 27 victims of a recent deadly attack were laid to rest during a mass burial attended by grieving relatives, friends, and members of the community.

The victims were killed after suspected terrorists attacked the farming community located along the Kaduna-Plateau border on Sunday, 26 July 2026.

Several families were reportedly left devastated, with some losing multiple relatives in the attack.

The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan conducted the mass burial on Saturday, 1 August 2026. Three other victims had earlier been buried, bringing the reported death toll from the attack to 30.

Photographs from the funeral showed rows of coffins placed side by side, reflecting the scale of the tragedy that struck the community.

The Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Most Rev. Julius Yakubu Kundi, said the victims had been failed by those responsible for protecting them.

Addressing mourners during the burial ceremony, Bishop Kundi explained that the arrangement of the coffins was intentional, describing it as a painful reminder of the lives lost and the need for greater protection of innocent citizens.

“I deliberately asked for the coffins to be lined up like this so it will be evidence for us and all of Nigeria that we failed to protect them. They should not have died now,” the bishop said.

He expressed condolences to the bereaved families, especially parents who lost children and other loved ones, describing their grief as overwhelming.

The mass burial comes amid continued concerns over insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, with communities repeatedly calling for stronger measures to protect residents from violent attacks.
