A 26-year-old woman, Vainess Kanyama, has died after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband’s side chick in Kitwe, Zambia.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, after Kanyama, a resident of Kapoto Township, allegedly confronted Christin Ntundwe over an alleged affair with her husband.
The deceased’s uncle, Derrick Bwalya, who confirmed the incident, said he received a call informing him that his niece had been found unconscious near a market.
Bwalya said he rushed to the scene and found Kanyama surrounded by people, bleeding from her nose and unresponsive.
“I found my niece bleeding from the nose and she was unresponsive and when I attempted to take her to the hospital, I was told that she had already died,” he said.
According to him, the matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Bwalya said Kanyama had been living with her husband in the same area before she went to confront the suspect, who also resides in Kapoto.
He added that one of Kanyama’s daughters, who was with her at the time, reportedly returned home and informed relatives after finding her mother unconscious.
The family later buried Kanyama on Friday following a post-mortem examination, which reportedly established that she died from blood clots on both sides of the brain.
Bwalya said the family was seeking justice, insisting that the suspect had no right to take Kanyama’s life.
He also appealed to the deceased’s husband to cooperate with the police and assist in efforts to locate Ntundwe, who was reportedly on the run.
Kanyama is survived by three children, with the youngest said to be five years old.
