The company said the planned disruption is necessary to allow engineers to carry out annual maintenance on its 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation.
According to TCN, the maintenance exercise will take place between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that an annual maintenance exercise will be carried out at its 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, from 10:00am to 4:00pm,” the company stated.
TCN said the exercise would affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to supply electricity to several residential and commercial areas during the maintenance period.
Affected locations include Dawaki, Gwarinpa, Dutse Alhaji, parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, parts of Jiwa, Suleja Township, the FCT College of Education, Field Base, Madalla and Zuba.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are expected to experience the outage during the six-hour maintenance window.
TCN said the scheduled exercise is part of its annual maintenance programme aimed at maintaining the transmission infrastructure and improving the reliability of electricity supply.
