Popular Nigerian comedian Akpororo has defended his colleague, Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, amid criticism over her viral on-stage moment with singer Timaya at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in Dallas, Texas.
The controversy began after a video surfaced online showing Real Warri Pikin joining Timaya on stage during his performance, with the singer briefly lifting her off the ground.
The moment generated criticism from some social media users, who questioned the appropriateness of the interaction involving the married mother of three.
Responding to the backlash, Real Warri Pikin released a video accepting responsibility for her actions and apologising to her fans and her husband, Ikechukwu.
She explained that she became carried away by the excitement of the event and did not intend to offend anyone.
Despite the apology, criticism against the comedian continued on social media.
However, Akpororo has urged Real Warri Pikin to stop apologising to the public, arguing that she did not owe anyone an explanation over the brief stage interaction.
The comedian also accused critics of hypocrisy, pointing to scenes involving married Nollywood actresses who kiss or engage in intimate acts in films without receiving the same level of criticism.
He maintained that Real Warri Pikin should not be subjected to continued public condemnation over a moment during a performance.
According to Akpororo, the only person she should consider apologising to, if necessary, is her husband, rather than the general public.
His comments come as the debate over the incident continues to generate reactions across social media.
