‘Doctors Said They Had Lost Me’ — Pat Utomi Recalls Near-Death Experiences.

 

Professor Pat Utomi has recounted several near-death experiences he said he survived through what he described as God’s intervention.

The Nigerian professor of political economy and management expert shared the experiences in a post on Facebook, reflecting on moments when his life was in serious danger.

Utomi recalled that about 35 years ago, doctors at Boromeo Hospital in Onitsha told the chief surgeon that they had lost him after he was involved in an accident near Asaba.

According to him, he had no pulse and was not breathing at the time, but the surgeon refused to give up and continued efforts to save his life.

He said doctors eventually discovered that he was still alive and proceeded with surgery to stop internal bleeding caused by injuries sustained in the accident.

Utomi added that the crash had already claimed the life of his driver.

He described July as a month of thanksgiving for his family because of the significance of the incident.

The professor also recalled another close encounter with death years later during the July 7 terrorist attacks on London's transport system.

Reflecting on the experiences, Utomi said they had strengthened his belief in God's protection.

“Looking back at it all, one thing is certain: if God is with you, you have everything,” he wrote, expressing gratitude to God.
