Galatasaray have confirmed that Victor Osimhen will be sidelined for about three weeks after suffering a groin injury during Friday’s 3–2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir.
The Nigeria international opened the scoring for Galatasaray but was forced off in the 33rd minute after picking up the injury. He was replaced by Turkish winger Barış Alper Yılmaz.
Following medical examinations, Galatasaray confirmed that the former Napoli striker had sustained a groin injury and would require around three weeks to recover.
According to Turkish outlet Le Marca Sports, Osimhen is expected to miss Galatasaray’s next three matches across all competitions.
The 27-year-old striker will reportedly sit out the UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon, as well as Super Lig fixtures against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.
His absence will be a major concern for manager Okan Buruk, with Galatasaray competing on both domestic and European fronts.
The injury could also affect Nigeria’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Osimhen is expected to miss the Super Eagles’ upcoming fixtures against Madagascar on September 23 and Guinea-Bissau four days later.
