Kebbi Police Arrest Nigerian Fugitive Wanted Over Business Partner’s Death In Niger Republic.

 

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a Nigerian man wanted by authorities in Niger Republic over the alleged killing of his business partner.

The suspect, identified as Mas’udu Saidu, was traced and arrested in Gulma town, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the arrest to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, September 25, 2026.

According to Usman, Saidu allegedly stabbed his 38-year-old business partner, Mas’udu M. Sani, to death with a knife in Niger Republic before fleeing to Kebbi State.

The deceased was said to be an indigene of Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Both the suspect and the deceased are Nigerians.

The police spokesperson said the arrest followed credible intelligence and sustained collaboration with international security agencies.

He said the suspect had been declared wanted by authorities in Niger Republic, prompting the Kebbi State Police Command to launch a manhunt that eventually led to his arrest.

“Yes, we arrested a fugitive wanted in Niger Republic for stabbing his business partner to death. We are currently investigating him at the SCID,” Usman said.

He added that the command was working with the Interpol section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, on the case.

According to him, the eventual prosecution of the suspect would be determined by the Interpol section at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja because of the cross-border nature of the alleged offence.

“His prosecution can only be determined by our Interpol section at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, because most of their duties deal with cases that have to do with cross-border and inter-country crimes,” he said.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing and his movement from Niger Republic into Nigeria.
