Man Allegedly Kills Mother Over Family Farmland Dispute In Osun.

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Taye Kasali for allegedly killing his mother, Kudirat Kasali, following a dispute over the family’s farmland.

The suspect was arrested on September 7, 2026, after the woman and her son were reported missing at the Bode-Osi Police Division on September 1.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, police operatives launched an investigation following the report and subsequently arrested Kasali through intelligence-led efforts.

Ojelabi said the suspect confessed during interrogation that he allegedly killed his mother on August 31 and buried her remains in a shallow grave on the family farm.

He reportedly told investigators that his mother had accused him of being mentally unstable and had threatened to lease out the farmland, which he described as the family’s major source of livelihood.

The suspect allegedly confessed to slitting his mother’s throat with a machete before burying her body on the farm.

Following his confession, Kasali reportedly led police operatives to the location of the shallow grave, where the remains of the deceased were recovered alongside the machete allegedly used in the crime.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, has directed a thorough investigation into the incident.

The command said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, while Zungura assured the public that justice would be served in accordance with the law.

The police also urged members of the public to promptly report missing persons and suspicious activities to the authorities and provide relevant information to security agencies when necessary.
