Captain Ruth Adeola Adebanwo, Chief Pilot of Ibom Air, has achieved a remarkable milestone after flying a brand-new Airbus A220-300 from Mirabel, Canada, to Uyo, Nigeria.
Her
journey is just as inspiring. She began her aviation career as cabin crew
before progressing through the ranks to become a pilot and eventually Chief
Pilot of Ibom Air.
The
aircraft was delivered from Airbus' facility in Mirabel to Victor Attah
International Airport in Uyo on September 1, 2026, and Captain Adebanwo is
being celebrated as the first woman reported to have flown a brand-new aircraft
into Nigeria.
Her
achievement is an inspiration and a powerful example of what women can
accomplish in fields traditionally dominated by men.
From cabin
crew to the cockpit. From the cockpit to Chief Pilot. And now, flying a
brand-new aircraft home to Nigeria.
Congratulations,
Captain Ruth, your story is one worth celebrating.
