Omotola Jalade Reveals She, Genevieve, RMD, Others Were Banned From Acting in 2015.

Veteran Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade has revealed that she and several other prominent actors were allegedly banned from acting by movie marketers around 2015 after pushing for higher standards and greater accountability in Nollywood.

Omotola made the disclosure during a recent interview on Yanga FM, where she reflected on a period when she appeared to take a break from the Nigerian film industry.

According to the actress, she, Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Jim Iyke and other established actors were allegedly prohibited from working because they were demanding better structures and improved standards within the industry.

She said the movie marketers considered the actors a negative influence because of their efforts to push for greater accountability and professionalism.

Omotola explained that the disagreement eventually led to a reconciliation meeting being organised to resolve the issues between the actors and the marketers.

However, she said she chose not to attend the meeting.

The actress’ revelation offers an insight into the challenges and disagreements that reportedly existed between some of Nollywood’s leading actors and movie marketers during that period.
