Politician Sentenced To Four Years After DNA Reveals Baby Was His Daughter’s Child.

 A German politician and political campaigner, Holger Rene Winkler, has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing his 12-year-old daughter and fathering a child with her.

Winkler, 38, from Wittenburg near Hamburg, was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and incestuous intercourse by the Dessau-Roßlau Regional Court, according to local media reports.

The case came to light after the girl, who was 12 at the time, gave birth at a hospital in Germany. Doctors reportedly became suspicious and alerted the police and youth welfare authorities.

A DNA paternity test was subsequently conducted and confirmed that Winkler was the father of the newborn child.

Winkler reportedly confessed to police when confronted over the allegations.

During proceedings at the regional court on Monday, September 21, 2026, Winkler attempted to defend himself against the allegations, telling the court: “I’m not a paedophile.”

He also attributed his actions to what he described as difficult personal circumstances at the time of the offence.

“It was a difficult time for me when the crime occurred. We’re a family of seven, living together in cramped conditions in 64 square metres,” he said.

Winkler added that he had wanted to train as an IT specialist but had been unable to pursue the career.

The conviction has also drawn attention to the political image Winkler had presented during his campaign.

He had previously promoted himself with the slogan: “In my free time, I’m there for my family,” while also campaigning for what he described as attractive housing options, particularly for young and large families.

Following the conviction, Winkler’s wife told German newspaper Bild that the situation was terrible but said he remained the father of her five children and would return to the family after serving his sentence.

She also disclosed that she and her daughter had decided to put the baby boy up for adoption.

Winkler has now been taken into custody following the conclusion of the trial.
