Tinubu Is Hale & Healthy, He Can Rule Nigeria From Anywhere - Presidency.

 

The Presidency has said President Bola Tinubu does not need to be physically present in Abuja to discharge his constitutional responsibilities, insisting that he can govern Nigeria from anywhere in the world.

The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, 27 September, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The statement comes amid growing public scrutiny and criticism from opposition figures over the President’s extended stay abroad after completing his official three-week holiday.

Onanuga said the President was “hale and hearty” and had been on a working holiday, which he was entitled to take.

“Nigeria’s President is hale and hearty. He has been on a working vacation, which he is perfectly entitled to,” Onanuga said.

He added that advances in technology meant the President could continue to carry out his official responsibilities without being physically present in the capital.

“In this digital age, he does not need to be physically present in Abuja to do the work for which he was elected in 2023,” he said.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu had continued to engage in official activities while abroad, including meetings with investors in France.

He also cited the President’s role in facilitating a proposed $7 billion deep-sea port at Ogun Waterside, an initiative of the Ogun State Government, as evidence of his continued engagement in government affairs.
