Tinubu, Yusuf Mourn Villa Media Aide Onwubuariri.

President Bola Tinubu and Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, have mourned the death of Peter Onwubuariri, an Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations at the Presidential Villa, who died after a prolonged illness.

Onwubuariri, a 48-year-old journalist with the News Agency of Nigeria, died in Kano on Monday while receiving treatment for his illness at the Kano Cancer Treatment Centre.

The late journalist joined the Presidential Villa in 2014 after being posted there by NAN. He served under three successive administrations led by former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, as well as the current administration of President Tinubu.

Before his posting to the Villa, Onwubuariri worked as NAN's North American Correspondent. His death was confirmed by his wife, Catherine Ezinna Onwubuariri.

Following his death, his remains were deposited at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano. They were later released for transportation to Owerri, Imo State, where he is expected to be buried.

The Kano State Government was involved in the process of releasing and conveying the remains, with the governor's spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, overseeing the handover at the hospital.

President Tinubu expressed sadness over the death, describing Onwubuariri as an experienced journalist who served the country with professionalism and dedication.

The President said the journalist's long service across three administrations showed his commitment to government communication and public service.

Tinubu also commiserated with Onwubuariri's widow, his three children, relatives, friends and colleagues in the media and government.

He prayed for strength for the bereaved family and eternal rest for the deceased.

Governor Yusuf also expressed condolences to the family, colleagues and associates of the late journalist.

The governor noted that Onwubuariri played a role in providing information and supporting public communication while serving at the Presidential Villa.

Yusuf said the journalist's death was a painful loss to his family and the wider information and public relations community.

He also prayed for comfort for the deceased's wife, children and other members of his family while mourning his passing.
