Woman Who Accused Jay-Z Of Rape Says Claims Were False, Admits She Never Met Rapper.

 

A woman who previously accused rapper Jay-Z of rape has withdrawn her allegations, saying she never met or spoke to the music mogul and that her claims against him were false.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe, made the admission in a 12-page declaration filed on Thursday, September 24, in Manhattan federal court.

“Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct towards me whatsoever,” she stated in the declaration.

“There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter,” she added, saying she understood that her allegations had caused Carter significant “pain, suffering and damage”.

The declaration was filed alongside a notice that Carter was voluntarily dismissing Jane Doe as a defendant in his ongoing malicious-prosecution lawsuit against lawyer Tony Buzbee and his Texas-based law firm.

Jane Doe said she was neither promised nor paid any compensation for making the declaration.

Her new lawyer, James Blair Newman Jr., said his client maintained that she had been a victim of sexual assault but had been mistaken in identifying Carter as the alleged perpetrator.

“Our client maintains that she was a victim of sexual assault, but she was entirely mistaken in her allegations identifying Mr. Carter, and those allegations were false,” Newman said.

He added that Carter “did not rape her, sexually assault her, engage in any inappropriate conduct towards her, and she has never met him”.

The woman first filed a lawsuit in October 2024 accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her when she was 13 and alleging that an unidentified male celebrity had also sexually assaulted her.

Carter was later identified as the unnamed celebrity defendant after his legal team said Buzbee sent him a demand letter seeking a confidential financial settlement.

Carter has consistently denied the allegations and subsequently filed legal actions against Buzbee, accusing him of extortion and malicious prosecution.

Jane Doe voluntarily dismissed her lawsuit against Carter and Combs in early 2025, citing inconsistencies in her account.

In her latest declaration, she said her legal claim began after she responded to a Facebook advertisement seeking people with sexual assault allegations against Combs.

She said the advert triggered memories of an alleged assault when she was 13 and that she subsequently provided information to lawyers who contacted her.

However, she said she later began questioning aspects of her account, including whether she had attended a party involving celebrities.

“In January 2025, I began to doubt my claims against Mr. Carter. I also began doubting that I ever went to a party with celebrities,” she wrote.

She further alleged that her lawyers gave her $1,200 in cash when she travelled to Houston in December 2024 for an interview with NBC News and later asked her to undergo a polygraph test after discrepancies emerged in her account.

Jane Doe said she never received the results of the test.

Buzbee, who told Rolling Stone that he had not seen the latest declaration, disputed the suggestion that the allegations had been fabricated by his legal team.

“We have multiple lawyers (at least four) who dealt with Ms. Doe long before she met me. She gave the exact same story to each. If for some reason now she is claiming she lied to us and the court, that’s new information,” he said.

The development comes as Carter’s malicious-prosecution case against Buzbee and his firm continues in New York.

Carter had previously alleged that Buzbee’s demand for a settlement amounted to an attempt to pressure him with the threat of reputational damage.

A separate extortion lawsuit filed by Carter in California was dismissed, and an appeals court recently upheld the dismissal, ruling that Buzbee’s demand letter was protected because it had been sent in anticipation of litigation.

The New York case remains pending.
