The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has commenced grassroots mobilisation in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with its founder, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, calling for the consolidation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms.
Tompolo made the call during the launch of the movement in Lafia, where he was represented by the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Kestin Pondi. Reports of the event were published by Vanguard, THISDAY and The Independent.
Tompolo acknowledged the challenges associated with the administration’s reforms but argued that more time was needed for their long-term benefits to be realised.
“These reforms need consolidation. Four years are not enough. The benefits of these reforms have not been fully experienced,” he said.
He cited ongoing road construction, increased resources available to state governments, the absence of petrol queues and growing investment activity as developments he associated with the Federal Government’s policies.
Tompolo also pointed to proposed investments in Nasarawa State, including a 6,000-metric-tonne lithium processing plant, housing projects and other industrialisation initiatives.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule commended the movement for its support for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the state had benefited from the Federal Government’s economic reforms.
Sule said Nasarawa had cleared outstanding gratuities accumulated over the years and had executed more than ₦100 billion worth of capital projects without borrowing from commercial banks. He attributed the development to the Tinubu administration’s reforms.
The governor also said the reforms had helped improve the state’s investment environment and encouraged investors to consider Nasarawa for new projects.
National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Asuku, said Tompolo had mandated the organisation to take its mobilisation campaign across local government areas, wards and polling units ahead of the 2027 general election.
Asuku said the movement believed the administration’s economic reforms were necessary despite the difficulties being experienced by Nigerians.
He said the group would continue its grassroots mobilisation across the state, while urging voters to assess political candidates based on their records in public office.
The launch featured the inauguration of coordinators across Nasarawa State and the presentation of vehicles to support the movement’s grassroots mobilisation activities.
