AAC Asks Tinubu For Presidential Villa To Inaugurate Campaign Council.

The African Action Congress (AAC), led by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, has written to President Bola Tinubu, seeking permission to hold the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for 5,000 people expected to attend the ceremony.

The request was contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the AAC National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena.

In the letter, the party proposed November 11, 2026, for the inauguration, saying the event would form part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The AAC said it expected participants from different parts of Nigeria and abroad to attend the ceremony. It therefore asked the Presidency to provide the necessary arrangements to accommodate the expected crowd.

The party also referred to what it described as arrangements reportedly provided to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement.

According to the AAC, granting its request would demonstrate the Federal Government's commitment to multiparty democracy and ensure that political parties receive equal treatment.

The party argued that public institutions should serve all Nigerians without discrimination based on political affiliation.

It further stated that approving the request would show that the Presidency was committed to fairness, political inclusion and equal access for all political parties.

The letter was addressed to Tinubu in his capacity as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The AAC expressed hope that the President would approve its request and asked the Presidency to provide details of the procedures and conditions required to secure permission for the proposed event.

The request comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with parties expected to organise activities and build structures ahead of the polls.

However, the letter did not indicate whether the Presidency had approved the proposed use of the Presidential Villa or agreed to provide the requested logistical support.
