American rapper Nicki Minaj has called on more celebrities and social media influencers to use their platforms to draw attention to the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
The rapper, who disclosed that she has personal ties to the country through her Nigerian pastor and several Nigerian friends, said the situation caught her attention after she began noticing reports of Christians allegedly facing brutality because of their faith.
Expressing concern over what she perceived as a lack of widespread attention to the issue, Minaj questioned why more people were not speaking up about it.
She said, “What I started seeing was the br¥tality in which Christians are being treated there just for being Christian. And I thought, why isn’t anyone making a big deal out of this?"
According to her, certain issues may receive little attention because people consider them uncomfortable or unpopular topics to discuss publicly.
Minaj expressed hope that more influential personalities would join the campaign to raise awareness about the situation, stressing that she intends to become more involved in efforts to help the cause.
She added, “I’m hoping that more celebrities or people, influencers, I’m hoping that they come aboard the train to start speaking out about what’s happening to Christians in Nigeria.”
The music star also stated that she looks forward to doing more to support the cause, suggesting that her advocacy on the issue could continue beyond her current remarks.
