The warning focuses on areas along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, including Orchid Road, the Lekki Conservation Centre, Ikate and Chevron, where criminal activities have reportedly raised concerns among commuters.
According to the alert, suspected criminals are allegedly exploiting heavy traffic and poorly lit areas to target motorists. Some are said to approach vehicles caught in slow-moving traffic to steal car parts and valuables.
Commuters have also reportedly been targeted for their mobile phones, cash and other electronic devices, heightening concerns about safety along the busy corridor.
The reported threats come amid enforcement operations by the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources targeting shanties and makeshift structures around Orchid Junction and Eleganza bus stop.
Several structures were reportedly demolished during the exercise, while some suspects were said to have been arrested with offensive weapons.
The developments have renewed calls for increased vigilance and improved security along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, particularly in areas experiencing heavy traffic and poor lighting.
Motorists have been advised to remain alert while travelling through the affected areas, especially at night, and to avoid isolated routes where possible. Commuters have also been urged to exercise caution when caught in traffic.
However, the allegations of kidnapping and armed robbery have not been independently verified. Confirmation from relevant security authorities would be necessary to establish the scale and nature of the reported threats.
