Canadian rapper Drake has denied allegations that he copied the chorus of his song Janice STFU from music producer Aviel Calev Hirschfield, who has filed a lawsuit against the rapper.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Hirschfield, professionally known as Avi, alleged that he recorded the hook in January 2026 and sent it to producers who had previously worked with Drake.
He claimed that the song Drake released in May featured the same lyrics and melody as his original recording.
Hirschfield said he had provided timestamped audio files to support his claims but was subsequently denied songwriting credit and a share of the song’s profits.
However, a representative for Drake has firmly rejected the allegations.
“These allegations are categorically, unequivocally, and completely denied. There is not one iota of truth to these accusations,” the representative told TMZ.
The representative described the lawsuit, filed on Friday, as a “manufactured and baseless attempt” to exploit Drake’s name and success for financial gain and publicity.
“Drake wrote this song and has no connection or knowledge of this person full stop,” the representative added.
The lawsuit centres on the disputed ownership of the song’s chorus and whether Hirschfield is entitled to songwriting credit or financial compensation.
The allegations have not been determined by a court, and Drake has denied any connection to the producer or his claimed work.
