Globacom on Wednesday rounded off its sponsorship of the 2026 Ofala Festival with a royal banquet in honour of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, Agbogidi.
The event
brought together the monarch, cabinet chiefs, Glo trade partners and
high-net-worth customers for the grand finale of the cultural celebration
sponsored by Globacom.
Speaking
at the banquet, Mike Ehumadu, Globacom’s Divisional Head, South East,
highlighted the importance of partnerships between businesses and traditional
institutions in preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage. He also congratulated
Igwe Achebe, the festival’s organizing committee and the people of Onitsha on a
successful celebration, reaffirming Glo’s commitment to initiatives that
promote Nigeria’s diverse cultures.
Music,
comedy and live-band performances added colour to the evening, with Aniweta
Mazeli, Boy o Boy and the Groove Band entertaining guests. Comedian MC
Ezegetive also kept the audience laughing, adding to the celebratory mood.
Glo also
rewarded winning Onitsha age grades with cash prizes and trophies, recognizing
their competitive spirit, discipline and contribution to the festival. It also
presented hundreds of bags of special Basmati rice to all the members of the
different age grade associations.
