Killaboi gave the account while testifying before Justice Ibironke Harrison in his ongoing trial over the death of the 21-year-old former Lead City University student.
He told the court that the incident followed an argument over messages he discovered on Augusta’s phone.
According to him, the disagreement escalated after he insulted Augusta’s mother, prompting her to pick up a steak knife and threaten him.
Killaboi claimed that Augusta injured both his hands during the confrontation while he continued to hold on to her phone.
“We dragged the knife for about 10 minutes. She was holding on to the handle while I held the tip,” he told the court.
He said he eventually gained control of the knife but claimed that Augusta sustained an injury to her stomach during the struggle and collapsed.
Killaboi told the court that he immediately attempted to stop the bleeding by covering the wound with a towel.
“I told her not to die and that I won't break up with her again,” he recounted.
His account forms part of his testimony in the ongoing trial. The circumstances surrounding Augusta’s death remain subject to the court’s determination.
