Kogi Varsity Expels Student, Rusticates Two.

The Senate of Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State, has expelled one student and suspended two others from academic activities for one session over separate cases of misconduct.

The decisions were reached during the university’s 33rd Regular Senate Meeting held on September 30, 2026, after the Senate reviewed reports from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.

The expelled student, Samuel Asipita David, a 300-level Electrical Engineering student in the Faculty of Engineering, was found responsible for taking part in a fight involving students. He was also found to have given false information to the disciplinary committee during an earlier appearance before it.

Based on the findings, the Senate approved his expulsion in line with the provisions of the university’s Students’ Handbook.

In another case, Abdullahi Zeinulabideen Ozovehe, a 200-level Common Law student, was rusticated for one academic session after he was found responsible for tampering with a closed-circuit television camera at the Faculty of Law.

The rustication was approved by the Senate with immediate effect under the relevant rules governing student conduct at the institution.

The Senate also sanctioned another 200-level Common Law student, Olumide Miracle Eniola, with a one-session rustication.

Eniola was found responsible for an offence involving placing her legs on the lap of a male student. The university said the sanction was imposed under the provisions of its Students’ Handbook and the law establishing the institution.

The university stated that the disciplinary measures were taken after the affected students were given the opportunity to appear before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.

The committee investigated the separate cases and submitted its findings to the Senate, which reviewed the reports before reaching decisions on the sanctions.

The institution said the disciplinary actions were therefore carried out through the established procedure for handling cases of student misconduct.
