The incident caused traffic disruption in the area, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The agency disclosed the collision in a post on X, stating that the accident had affected vehicular movement around the railway crossing.
A video shared alongside reports of the incident showed the severely damaged Honda car on the railway tracks as residents gathered at the scene and attempted to push it away from the train.
LASTMA said the car had subsequently been moved off the tracks, while efforts were under way to evacuate it from the scene.
The agency added that its officers were managing traffic in the area, while emergency responders were also present to handle the situation.
The post read: “A collision involving a train and a Honda car was reported on the rail tracks at PWD, seriously affecting vehicular movement at the moment.
“The car has been pushed off the tracks now by onlookers as effort is on for evacuation.
“Officers are on ground managing the traffic situation accordingly as emergency responders are on ground doing the needful.”
As of the time of reporting, it was unclear whether the collision resulted in any casualties.
