Poland striker Robert Lewandowski has broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s record as the oldest player to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Nations League.
The 38-year-old scored three times as Poland thrashed Romania 6-0 in Warsaw, finding the net in the 24th, 47th and 86th minutes.
Lewandowski was 38 years and 42 days old when he completed his hat-trick, surpassing Ronaldo’s previous record of 34 years and 120 days.
Ronaldo had set the record when he scored three goals for Portugal against Switzerland in the 2019 UEFA Nations League semi-final.
Lewandowski’s performance also marked his record-extending 170th appearance for Poland and took his international goal tally to 92.
The veteran forward’s hat-trick capped a dominant display by Poland, who secured a convincing 6-0 victory over Romania in the Nations League encounter.
