Ondo Arrests 30 Over Sanitation Offences.

The Ondo State Government has arrested 30 people for violating environmental sanitation regulations during the monthly sanitation exercise held on Saturday.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Environmental Health and Safety, Chief Samuel Bolala, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Akure, the state capital.

Bolala explained that the exercise was organised to promote environmental cleanliness, enforce sanitation laws and ensure a healthy and safe environment for residents across the state.

He stressed the need for residents to comply with sanitation regulations, maintain clean surroundings and properly dispose of waste to prevent environmental pollution and protect public health.

The governor's aide revealed that the 30 suspects were apprehended by environmental officers during the exercise and would be taken before the state's special environmental court to face legal proceedings.

He called for greater cooperation among government agencies, environmental health officers, waste management officials and members of the public to improve sanitation and ensure a cleaner environment across Ondo State.

Bolala also stated that the exercise was in line with Governor Aiyedatiwa's OUR EASE agenda, which seeks to improve the welfare of residents by providing a cleaner, safer and healthier environment.

He commended environmental health officers and waste management workers for their efforts in maintaining sanitation standards and enforcing environmental laws.

The aide urged the officials to remain committed to their duties, discharge their responsibilities professionally and continue educating residents on the importance of environmental cleanliness.

He further appealed to residents to make proper waste disposal and environmental hygiene part of their everyday activities rather than waiting for the monthly sanitation exercise.

Bolala maintained that achieving a clean and sustainable environment in Ondo State required the collective efforts of government and residents, alongside regular public education, proper waste management and strict enforcement of environmental laws.
