Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 on Sunday night, with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice, including a late winner, to secure victory in the El Clasico clash.
Mbappe struck in the 87th minute to settle the contest after Barcelona had fought back to draw level, handing Madrid all three points in a crucial LaLiga encounter.
Madrid took the lead when the ball deflected off Mbappe and into the net. Barcelona responded in the 61st minute through Raphinha, who restored parity and appeared to put the hosts back in contention.
However, Mbappe delivered the decisive moment three minutes from the end, finding the net to seal the victory for Madrid.
Madrid went into the encounter aware that defeat would deal a significant blow to their LaLiga title ambitions, making the result particularly important in the race for the league crown.
Despite the loss, Barcelona remain top of the standings with 27 points, while Madrid occupy third place with 24 points.
The defeat also marked Barcelona’s first league loss of the season, handing Madrid a major boost in the title race.
