Rick Ross Arrested In Miami On Domestic Violence Charges.

American rapper Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami on domestic violence-related charges of battery and battery by strangulation.

Ross, 50, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre at about 6:10am on Thursday, October 1, according to Miami-Dade jail records. Both charges are listed as domestic violence offences.

The rapper was arrested by Miami Beach Police after turning himself in, according to reports. His bond was set at $5,000 for the battery by strangulation charge and $1,000 for the battery charge, bringing the total to $6,000.

The arrest came days after Ross’ former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused him of physically abusing her and shared photographs showing what she said were injuries sustained during an alleged incident.

Kendrick later contacted police and alleged that an incident took place on August 28. According to law enforcement sources cited by TMZ, she told investigators that Ross questioned her about allegedly lying to him before slapping her and later striking her when she denied being involved with another man.

She also alleged that Ross struck her in the chest several times, choked her until she could not breathe, grabbed her by the ponytail and slammed her against a wall. Police were reportedly given photographs of her alleged injuries.

Kendrick had previously responded to a fan on Instagram who complimented her appearance by writing, “He saw a punching bag,” while also sharing photographs of her swollen lip.

It remains unclear from the initial reports whether the arrest was directly connected to Kendrick’s allegations, although subsequent reports have linked the charges to her complaint.

Ross’ lawyers, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, have denied the allegations, saying the rapper is “being wrongfully accused” and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

They urged the public not to prejudge the case and said the judicial process should be allowed to run its course.

Ross is scheduled to be arraigned on October 22.
