Ruggedman Opens Up On Failed Relationship, Marriage Plans At 52.

Veteran Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has explained why he remains unmarried at 52, revealing that the demands of building his music career and the collapse of a long-term relationship contributed to his situation.

The rapper made the disclosure during a recent radio interview, where he reflected on how his career consumed much of his time and affected his personal life.

Ruggedman said he entered the music industry at a time when artistes had to work hard to establish themselves, leaving little time for other pursuits.

“I am one of those who got into the industry back in the day where all we had was our hustle and we faced it and before you know it, time was gone,” he said.

He noted that some of his colleagues had found partners who were willing to support them through the demands of their careers, adding that his experience had been different.

“2baba was lucky to have found partners who were ready to walk that road with him, I wasn’t that lucky,” he added.

The rapper also disclosed that he is currently single, explaining that a five-year relationship he believed would lead to marriage eventually ended.

Ruggedman said he had always been determined not to have children outside marriage, describing it as a personal commitment he had maintained over the years.

“The only thing I vowed is that I will never have a child out of wedlock,” he said.

Despite remaining unmarried at 52, the rapper insisted that he had not given up on finding a life partner.

“No, I don’t think it’s too late. It’s never too late. As long as you are alive, it’s never too late to get married,” he said.

During the interview, Ruggedman was also asked about his sexuality, which he clarified by stating that he is heterosexual.

His comments have offered a glimpse into the personal choices and experiences behind his continued single status, while reaffirming his openness to marriage in the future.
