Super Eagles Drop Four Places To 30th In Latest FIFA Ranking.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped four places to 30th in the latest FIFA men’s world ranking released on Wednesday following a difficult international window.

The three-time African champions, previously ranked 26th in the world and fourth in Africa, are now sixth on the continent behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria and Ivory Coast.

The latest decline was largely influenced by Nigeria’s mixed results during the international window.

The Super Eagles began their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in Uyo.

George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor scored their first senior international goals as Nigeria recovered from conceding first to secure all three points.

Super Eagles suffered a 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in Bissau in their next outing.

Franculino Djú, Mama Baldé and Álvaro Djaló scored for the hosts, with the heavy defeat dealing a major blow to Nigeria’s FIFA ranking.

Nigeria returned to action on Tuesday, playing out a 3-3 draw against Russia in an international friendly in Nizhny Novgorod.

Although the draw earned Nigeria some points, it could not fully offset the damage caused by the defeat in Guinea-Bissau.

Morocco remain Africa’s highest-ranked team and moved to seventh in the world with 1,805.34 points.

Senegal are second in Africa and 18th globally with 1,648.84 points, while Egypt are third in Africa and 25th worldwide with 1,585.86 points.

Algeria occupy fourth position in Africa and 28th globally with 1,574.77 points, while Ivory Coast are fifth and 29th in the world with 1,569.32 points.

Nigeria complete Africa’s top six with 1,567.97 points.

The remaining teams in Africa’s top 10 are DR Congo, Cameroon, Mali and South Africa, ranked 40th, 43rd, 47th and 48th globally respectively.

Nigeria had remained 26th in the world in FIFA’s July ranking but slipped to fourth in Africa after Egypt moved above them. The latest results have now pushed Eric Chelle’s side down by another two places on the continent.

At the top of the global ranking, Spain remain world number one with 2,011.57 points.

Argentina are second with 1,972.80 points, while France, England and Portugal occupy third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Brazil are sixth, followed by Morocco in seventh, with Belgium, the Netherlands and Mexico completing the global top 10.
