United States lawmaker Riley Moore has welcomed the reported arrest of Mahmoud Adam, who has been accused of involvement in attacks that killed Christians in Nigeria.
Moore described the reported arrest as a sign that security cooperation between the United States and Nigeria was producing results, while commending the Nigerian government for the operation.
The Republican congressman also credited the US Congress and the administration of President Donald Trump for efforts to strengthen the protection of Christian communities affected by violence in Nigeria.
He called for continued cooperation between the two countries to tackle insecurity and improve the safety of communities affected by attacks.
Moore’s comments followed a report by The Daily Caller on the reported arrest of Adam, who was said to have been taken into custody on September 12 at his compound in Plateau State.
The publication described Adam as a prominent Fulani community leader and cited allegations linking him to a terrorist group.
According to The Daily Caller, the report was based partly on information from a whistleblower and other sources. However, the allegations concerning Adam’s alleged involvement in violent attacks, as well as the circumstances surrounding his reported arrest, remain subject to official clarification.
Moore has previously been involved in US congressional efforts addressing violence against Christian communities in Nigeria. In February 2026, he was also linked to a report presented to the White House calling for stronger security cooperation between the United States and Nigeria.
