There was tension at PTI Junction in Delta State after some youths gathered for a 5km Independence Day run reportedly protested over the distribution of T-shirts bearing the image of President Bola Tinubu.
According to reports, the youths became agitated after organisers of the event allegedly began distributing “Soft Nigeria” T-shirts featuring Tinubu’s image.
Videos shared online showed some of the youths tearing the shirts while chanting, “Obi, Obi, Obi!”
The incident reportedly occurred as participants gathered for the Independence Day run at PTI Junction.
The reaction from the youths followed the alleged decision by the organisers to distribute the Tinubu-branded shirts to participants.
The development created tension at the venue, with some participants rejecting the shirts and tearing them apart, according to videos circulating online.
The reports did not immediately provide details on whether the run continued as planned or whether the organisers addressed the youths’ objections.
