Nigeria's Super Falcons stars Rasheedat Ajibade and Asisat Oshoala have been omitted from the shortlist for the Women's Player of the Year award at the 2026 CAF Awards.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the 10 nominees for the prestigious award, with players from across the continent making the final list.
The omission of Ajibade and Oshoala comes as a setback for Nigeria, which has continued to produce some of Africa's finest female footballers.
The shortlist features players from Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Malawi, Morocco, South Africa and Zambia.
Cameroon leads the nominations with three representatives following its impressive performances in women's football.
The nominees include Marine Dafeur of Algeria, Marie Ngah Manga, Michaely Bihina and Monique Ngock of Cameroon.
Ghana is represented by Portia Boakye, while Malawi has two nominees in Tabitha Chawinga and Temwa Chawinga.
Morocco's Hanane Ait El Haj, South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia's Barbra Banda complete the list.
Banda, who has established herself as one of Africa's leading female footballers, will be looking to add another continental individual honour to her collection.
The 2026 CAF Awards will recognise outstanding performances across African football, with the Women's Player of the Year category expected to attract significant attention.
