Abimbola Adeniyi.
A female APC Chairmanship aspirant in Ekiti State, Mrs Abimbola Olawumi Olajumoke-Adeniyi, was yesterday remanded in prison for an alleged traffic offence and assaulting a police officer and a staff of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency while performing their lawful duties.

The 39-year-old mother of three allegedly committed the offence on Friday, October 6th and was arraigned by police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo and brought before Chief Magistrate Richard Adegboye alongside a 23-year old mechanic operating in Ado Ekiti, Tope Ogidiolu.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges, but the lawyer to the accused persons, Mrs Taiwo Ajibulu, applied for bail which was objected to by the prosecutor.

Ajibulu said that issues of traffic offence were bailable and that it will be a breach of the rights of her clients to be deprived of bail on account of flimsy excuse that she could jump bail.

Magistrate Adegboye eventually ordered that the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody till October 13, 2017.
