The Bauchi State Government has terminated the appointments of two senior civil servants after they were found guilty of committing forgery.
This was disclosed by Mr Saleh Umar, the Information and Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (BSCSC), in a statement issued on Wednesday in Bauchi.
According to Umar, the two officials – Mr Yusuf Ningi, an Administrative Officer, and Suleiman Ahmed, a Principal Executive Officer 1 – were dismissed during the 35th plenary session of the commission, which took place on Tuesday.
He explained that the officers were found guilty of forgery, an offence which, he noted, violates State Public Service Rule 0327, “(ii, iii, and vi)”.
He said, “The Officers were posted to Government House from the Office of the Head of Civil Service, and their dismissal took effect from Sept. 23.”
Umar also quoted the Chairman of the Commission, Dr Ibrahim Muhammad, as urging civil servants across the state to perform their duties in line with the stipulations of the Public Service Rules and Regulations.
He further encouraged them to adhere to both internal and external circulars while executing their responsibilities at their respective duty posts.
Muhammad remarked that following established legal frameworks would shield them from illegal practices and enhance the quality of public service free from corruption.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to upholding “ethical conduct, integrity and commitment to the rules of law” within the Bauchi State civil service.
In addition, during the plenary session, the Commission officially confirmed the promotion of three substantive Directors within the State civil service and approved the elevation of four Deputy Directors to the position of Directors.
The newly promoted officials include two Directors of Administration and Human Resources, and Directors in the departments of Audit, Planning, Research and Statistics, Civil Litigation, and Land and Valuation.
Also among those promoted are eight Chief State Counsels and Chief Land Officers, who have now been elevated to the positions of Deputy Directors, State Counsels, and Lands.
According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Commission had earlier, on 11th September, dismissed an Education Officer over alleged gross misconduct involving “sexual harassment”.
