President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained that the infinity symbol he wears on his caps represents his commitment to addressing violence, poverty, ignorance, and hopelessness in Nigeria.
The President spoke during a visit to Jos, Plateau State, following attacks by gunmen that left several people dead and forced many others to flee their communities.
He addressed local residents, political leaders, and security officials, describing the symbol as a reminder of the need to work together to overcome national challenges.
Tinubu praised the efforts of the armed forces and security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, while calling for thorough investigations to bring those responsible for the killings to justice.
He was accompanied by the Inspector-General of Police, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Minister of Defence during the visit.
Reflecting on past political struggles and national goals, the President said leadership should focus on development and improving the standard of living for citizens, rather than allowing violence and hardship to continue.
He also revealed plans to expand a federal committee to include the Plateau State Governor and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs.
The committee will assess the damage caused by the attacks and provide relief for victims. Tinubu noted that while human lives cannot be replaced, the government will do what it can to offer comfort and support to those affected.
