Solomon Ewuga, who previously served as Deputy Governor, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and as a senator representing Nasarawa North in the 7th National Assembly, has passed away at the age of 70.
According to sources within the family, Senator Ewuga died on Tuesday following a prolonged illness.
Our correspondent reports that Ewuga’s public service career spanned several decades and was characterised by dedication, resilience, and political flexibility.
He initially gained prominence as Deputy Governor during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Adamu before later being appointed Minister of State for the FCT, where he played a role in the development of the capital city.
His time in the Senate further enhanced his political stature, particularly as a representative voice for Nasarawa North.
In December 2023, Ewuga drew public attention when he officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending his longstanding ties with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which highlighted his continued relevance and adaptability within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
Outside of partisan politics, Senator Ewuga was held in high regard for his statesmanship and for his significant contributions to Nasarawa State’s political development.
His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in the state’s history and Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
He is survived by his family, political allies, and numerous admirers, who will remember him for his dedicated service and leadership.
