The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has rescheduled the final assessment date for candidates below the required age who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the Board, the adjustment was prompted by the failure of 23 out of 71 universities selected by the affected candidates to submit their Post-UTME screening results before the original deadline of 15 September 2025.
In a statement issued by its Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB indicated that although the National Examinations Council (NECO) released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results on 17 September, several universities had still not complied.
The universities in default include the University of Lagos (39 candidates), Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja (18), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (15), University of Abuja (12), and University of Uyo (9), among others. A total of 135 candidates have been affected.
JAMB stated that it had officially written to the concerned universities, instructing them to provide the pending screening results without further postponement.
The Board also reminded the institutions of their responsibilities within the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). It directed public universities to submit their list of recommended candidates no later than Tuesday, 30 September 2025, while private universities were given until Friday, 31 October 2025.
JAMB reiterated that the final deadlines—30 October for public universities and 31 November for private universities—remain enforceable, as was agreed during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa.
The Board emphasised that full adherence to these deadlines is essential to maintain a seamless, equitable, and transparent admissions process for the 2025/2026 academic year.
