Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Senate Ordeal Sparks Fresh Outcry Over Legislative Abuse As Oby Ezekwesili Weighs In.

Ezekwesili, Natasha, Akpabio.

Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has called on the Nigerian Senate to immediately reinstate embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and allow her return to legislative duties.

In a strongly worded statement addressed to the Senate, judiciary, and citizens, Ezekwesili condemned the suspension, describing it as a violation of constitutional governance and an attack on the rule of law.

She warned that prolonging the lawmaker’s suspension would erode public trust in democratic institutions and undermine the sanctity of representation.

“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a covenant between government and the governed. Section 4 defines the scope of legislative power, while Section 14 enshrines the rule of law as the bedrock of democracy. These are binding obligations, not mere suggestions,” she stated.

Ezekwesili stressed that the matter extends beyond Akpoti-Uduaghan alone, insisting it concerns the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy and the protection of citizens’ rights.

“This case is not just about one senator or a single constituency—it strikes at the very heart of our democracy. If a duly elected senator can be silenced, what protection remains for ordinary Nigerians?” she asked.Fashionable training

She urged the Senate to rescind its decision without delay, stating: “Recall Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan now. Show that Nigeria’s commitment to justice, constitutional order, and the rule of law is real—not rhetorical.”

Ezekwesili also called on Nigerians to rise in defense of democratic safeguards, reminding them that silence in the face of injustice weakens the system.Fashionable training

“Every day without remedy chips away at democracy’s foundation. Standing up for her reinstatement is not just about one individual—it’s about protecting every Nigerian’s right against the abuse of power,” she added.
