In a lively event organised to commend the impressive accomplishments of both staff members and exceptional students in the Senior School Certificate Examinations Internal (SSCE), the National Examination Council (NECO) reaffirmed its dedication to promoting a culture of excellence and healthy competition.

The 2024 Productivity Award acknowledged the outstanding efforts of NECO staff and celebrated the highest-achieving students nationwide in all NECO examinations.

Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wishishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, delivered a motivational welcome speech, underlining the necessity of recognising the unwavering commitment of the NECO board and the continuous professional development of its personnel.

He stressed the vital impact these commitments have on shaping the direction of Nigeria’s educational system.

“This ceremony is not merely about recognising performance; it is about embedding a culture of discipline, continuous improvement, teamwork, and ethical service,” said Professor Dantani Wishishi.

He observed that honouring exceptional individuals conveys a powerful message that, despite existing challenges, excellence is attainable and must be pursued throughout the organisation.

The 2024 Productivity Award provided a platform to reaffirm NECO’s dedication to conducting credible, prompt, and impartial assessments that empower students and safeguard Nigeria’s future.

The event highlighted the shared journey of both staff and students, recognising that their collective efforts are essential to the advancement of education in the country.

Professor Wishishi urged students to see their accomplishments as a source of inspiration to their fellow learners, attributing success to diligence, the support of their families, and the commitment of their teachers.

He also offered words of motivation to those who were not awarded, assuring them that their potential is still immense and affirming NECO’s promise to ensure equal opportunities and access to mentorship.

The Registrar appealed to staff to reaffirm their dedication to excellence in every aspect of their responsibilities, from assessment to administrative duties, and to uphold integrity as a central value in all educational activities.

He stated that the awards reflect the conviction that excellence fosters public trust and confidence in Nigeria’s examination framework, thereby contributing to national progress and increased social mobility.

As the event continued, those present were uplifted by the successes of their colleagues and fellow students, reinforcing their shared determination to maintain the highest standards of service to Nigerian learners and the wider educational sector.
