Police Announce Restriction Of Movement In Abuja.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has positioned officers across the territory ahead of the Area Council Election set for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

This deployment involves coordination with other security agencies, including the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Air Force, Nigeria Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to ensure a smooth voting process.

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, instructed all officers on duty to act professionally, remain fair, and provide adequate security at polling stations and vote collation centres.

Officers are expected to stay vigilant while respecting the rights of residents and acting politely during operations.

Authorities have announced that movement across the FCT will be restricted from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on election day.

Exceptions will be made for essential workers and election staff.

Residents are urged to follow instructions from security personnel and to carry out their voting responsibilities without fear.

The Police Command also asked residents to report any suspicious activities or persons immediately using emergency numbers 08032003913 or 08061581938, assuring the public that security measures are in place to maintain peace during the election.

This preparation comes as part of a wider effort to ensure that the elections are conducted safely, allowing citizens to participate freely and responsibly.
