The ongoing leadership dispute within the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has deepened, as Reverend Yakubu Pam has clarified that a court ruling on the matter is still pending.

In a released statement, Reverend Pam criticised reports which claimed the case had been postponed indefinitely, describing them as “misrepresentations.”

He stated that during the court’s last sitting on 18th September 2025, both parties’ legal representatives presented their arguments, and the judge postponed the ruling, saying the date would be announced once the judgment was ready.

“We remain committed to due legal processes and respect for the sanctity of the judiciary. Justice, no matter how long it takes, will prevail,” Reverend Pam assured.

The religious leader also encouraged Christians in the Northern region to continue praying and to hold on to hope, maintaining that the current difficulties were temporary and that the truth would ultimately triumph.

Additionally, he warned political figures not to support individuals claiming to represent Northern CAN, stressing that the organisation was not created for political purposes but to promote unity and spiritual development.

“For the record, there is no recognised chairman of Northern CAN until the court delivers judgment. We call on the church, politicians, and the media to reject actions that promote division in the body of Christ,” he said.
