Dapo Abiodun.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has held a meeting with the body responsible for overseeing traditional and administrative matters during the transition phase of appointing a new Awujale of Ijebuland.

The Information Officer at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rasak Sekoni, confirmed that the meeting took place on Friday in Abeokuta.

While addressing the Transition Council in Abeokuta, Mr Abiodun stated that the installation of an Awujale required a thorough and carefully managed procedure.

He recalled that setting up the council in August was necessary to preserve the traditional and administrative functions long connected with the Awujale Palace.

The governor was represented at the meeting by the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat.

Mr Abiodun pledged government support, emphasising that the success of the council was essential to upholding the legacy of the late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

He called on the council to remain united, impartial, and fair in carrying out their duties in the shared interest of stakeholders.

Mr Abiodun further advised members to remain neutral when the process of filling the vacant Awujale stool officially commences.
