Twelve organisations affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed support for the demand to remove the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, following the police command’s withdrawal from the state’s Independence Day celebrations.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had earlier appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss Bakori, accusing him of disregarding his role as the state’s chief security officer.
The development led to both protests and counter-protests throughout Kano.
On Saturday, the twelve APC-aligned groups, led by Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, addressed a press conference in Kano, where they endorsed the governor’s request.
They also disassociated themselves from other APC groups that had expressed support for the police commissioner.
Abdullahi cautioned that “the commissioner’s refusal to take part in the parade could threaten peace and security in the state, potentially leading to loss of lives and property.”
The coalition includes the Kano State APC Integrity Group, Kano State APC Amalgamation Forum, APC Intellectual Forum, Ganduje Support Group, APC Concern Forum, and APC Media Enlightenment Forum.
Also among them are Abdullahi Abbas Political Vanguard, Tinubu/Shettima Political Movement, Kano State APC Mager, APC Kano Central Movement, Gawuna/Garo Political Awareness, and APC Dan Sarki Organization.
