Appeal Court Ordered Nnamdi Kanu’s Release In 2022 – Sowore.

Sowore

Human rights advocate, Omoyele Sowore, has stated that the Court of Appeal, in 2022, ordered the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Sowore made this statement on Monday while responding to questions during an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme broadcast on Arise Television.

He was reacting to the protest staged on Monday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which called for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu.

Sowore is the principal organiser of the Free Nnamdi Kanu protest.

“We were attacked by the Nigerian police. So, I haven’t done anything wrong in this protest, and we also ended up in the FCT police command.

“Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, his brother and eleven others were arrested by the Nigerian police,” he said.

Addressing the issue of court rulings, Sowore remarked, “The Court of Appeal in 2022 asked that Nnamdi Kanu be released.

“That judgement ought to have taken effect immediately it was given, but the Nigerian government did not honour it.”
