INEC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to commence the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and carry out a mock accreditation exercise in Anambra State tomorrow, October 22, 2025, ahead of the state’s forthcoming governorship election.

This announcement was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Victoria Eta-Messi. She explained that the PVC distribution would take place from October 22 to 26 for individuals who registered during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

Eta-Messi appealed to eligible voters to proceed to their respective registration areas to collect their PVCs, stressing that collection must be done personally. She reaffirmed that under no condition would anyone be allowed to collect a card on behalf of another person.

“All registered voters are urged to ensure they collect their PVCs within the specified period to be eligible to vote in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra,” Eta-Messi said.

The INEC official also stated that a mock accreditation exercise would be held on Saturday, October 25, in selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of the state.

According to her, the purpose of the mock exercise is to test the efficiency of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), determine its response speed, and ensure the smooth uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) ahead of the main election.

Eta-Messi listed the polling units chosen for the mock exercise. In Anambra Central, they include Amawbia II (03), Igwédimma Primary School I & II (006, 007), Idemili North Nkpor II (06), and Ububa Village Square (035) in Awka South Local Government Area.

For Anambra North, the selected polling units are Nteje III (07), Girls Secondary School, Nteje (005); Nteje IV (08), State Primary School, Nteje (002) in Oyi Local Government Area; as well as Aguleri II (02), Central School (001), and Umunoke Public Square I (002) in Anambra East Local Government Area.

In Anambra South, the exercise will hold at Ekwulobia I (06), Central School, Ekwulobia (003); Ekwulobia II (07), Urban Girls Secondary School, Ekwulobia (009) in Aguata Local Government Area; and Ajalli I (01), Primary School (007), and RCM KDT School (011) in Orumba North Local Government Area.

Eta-Messi urged all registered voters in the listed polling units to participate actively in the mock accreditation, explaining that their involvement would help INEC improve its operational and technological readiness before the governorship election.
