Kaduna Govt Approves 70% Implementation Of New Salary Structure For Tertiary Institutions.

Uba Sani.

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has authorised the implementation of 70 per cent of the 2024 CONPCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure for employees of all state-owned tertiary institutions.

The new salary structure will take effect from October 2025.

The approval came after a meeting between the governor and the leadership of the Joint Union of Tertiary Institutions (JUTIKS), leading to the suspension of a month-long strike by academic and non-academic staff.

The meeting, held at the Government House in Kaduna, was facilitated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and attended by representatives of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, College of Education Gidan Waya, and Kaduna State College of Nursing and Midwifery.

Governor Sani described the approval as part of his government’s effort to improve workers’ welfare and enhance the education sector.

“The welfare of our workers remains a priority. We are determined to build a fair and motivated workforce that drives excellence in our institutions,” the governor said.

Union representatives commended the governor’s action, calling it a show of sincerity and good leadership.

They also confirmed that the agreement includes extending the retirement age to 65 years and increasing the years of service to 40 for non-teaching staff.

The strike, which started on September 30, has now been suspended following the resolution reached.
